Professional profile:
I qualified at St Thomas' Hospital, London and subsequently trained in cardiology at the Brompton and St George's Hospitals, London. I was a British Heart Foundation Junior Research Fellow (1983) and have been a Consultant Cardiologist in Southampton since 1989. I have extensive experience in all aspects of general cardiology as well as sub-specialty expertise in interventional cardiology.

I was previously honorary secretary of the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society (1992-1996) and more recently President of the British Cardiac Society (2003-5).
