On Monday 8th June 2009, Dr Cathy Hill was featured in the ITV1 programme My Child Won't Sleep. Cathy is one of the UK's leading experts on child sleep disorder and is also part of the Solent Sleep Clinic team.
During the programme Cathy tries to help three families whose lives are affected by their children's sleeping problems. These sleep problems include:
- falling asleep during the day but waking at night
- sleep walking, night terrors and multiple waking
- a six year old who gets just three hours rest
Speaking about sleep disorders Dr Cathy Hill said:
"Getting enough sleep is important for all of us, but it is particularly important for children. Mental and physical development can be affected if a child is not receiving enough sleep, often leading to behavioural problems. In addition to this, children who have problems with their sleep can have a disruptive effect on family life and relationships.
At the Solent Sleep Clinic we conduct sleep studies to establish why a child is experiencing a disturbance to their sleep. Many sleep disorders can be treated and therefore improve the quality of life of the sufferer as well as that of their families."
