Led by Consultant Physicians Dr Ben Marshall and Dr Derek Sandeman, the Emergency Medical Care service treats patients with a wide range of medical conditions such as asthma, COPD, pneumonia, cellulitis and transient ischaemic attacks. Whether you require an emergency admission, treatment for multiple disorders or investigation and diagnosis the Emergency Medical Care service provides care when it matters most.
Following referral by your GP you will be admitted to hospital for a short hospital stay during which you will recieve a rapid assessment and fast-track diagnostic tests using our modern diagnostic and imaging services. You will either be admitted straight to our high dependency unit, to one of our individual private bedrooms with ensuite facilities, or arranged an outpatient appointment for diagnosis and investigation.

To access the Emergency Medical Care service you must be referred by your GP. This is not an accident and emergency service, therefore conditions such as lacerations, head injuries, trauma or patients requiring stroke rehabilitation are not suitable and will not be accepted.
