I am a specialist consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon in Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland, United Kingdom. The Edinburgh Orthopaedic Trauma unit in which I work is one of the busiest in the United Kingdom. My routine operating timetable involves surgery of the upper limb joints, with a large number of hand surgery procedures, particularly in the more complicated cases of hand trauma and hand diseases.  Although I have a specialist trauma practice within the Edinburgh Orthopaedic Trauma Unit, I see the whole range of orthopaedic diseases and have developed special interests in surgery of the upper limb and in accident and emergency surgery, together with reconstructive surgery following trauma.  

I also prepare medical reports for the pursuer/plaintiff and defence.  I undertake medical negligence and personal injury work involving the musculoskeletal system including sports injuries, road traffic and industrial accidents.

Chris Oliver is the lead specialist in the Edinburgh Hand Surgery Clinic. He is a member of council of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He is Chairman of the Intercollegiate Committee for Basic Surgical Examinations which oversees the Membership Examination of the Royal College of Surgeons for the United Kingdome and Ireland.
