Background Information
Professional profile:

I trained in London, and completed specialist fellowships in hip and knee surgery in Sydney and London. My Master of Surgery degree was entitled “Articular Cartilage Repair in the Young Adult Knee” and I have undertaken research into the use of adult stem cells to repair damaged cartilage and evaluated current best techniques of cartilage repair.

I am the lead clinician for the Enhanced Recovery after Arthroplasty programme in Edinburgh.
I have published over 30 research publications, including research on techniques and processes to minimise infections following orthopaedic operations, the outcomes of hip and knee replacement for all patients, particularly the ‘super-elderly’ and cartilage repair.

My research prizes include best paper by a clinician from the British Orthopaedic Research Society, Presidents Prize Paper at the Royal Society of Medicine, Short-listed for a Technological Advancement Award at the British Orthopaedic Association and the William Little Medal twice.

I was awarded the ABC Travelling Fellowship in 2010, I am an invited reviewer of research for 5 journals and the NIHR. I supervise BSc and MD students and I am the External Examiner for Orthopaedic Degrees at Warwick University.

Personal profile:

I live in Edinburgh with my husband and daughter. I enjoy surfing, scuba diving, swimming, travel and play the tenor saxophone.
