I qualified in medicine from Edinburgh University in 1996. I commenced my clinical training in Edinburgh and London before being awarded a Wellcome Trust Clinical Training Fellowship leading to a PhD examining mechanisms of injury and repair in atherosclerosis - the cause of angina and heart attacks.
I completed my cardiology training in Edinburgh with sub-specialty expertise in coronary intervention. I was appointed as a consultant in 2008 working between the Western General Hospital and Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. I welcome referrals in all aspects of general cardiology including hypertension, chest pain, palpitations, heart failure and valvular heart disease.
I enjoy a range of sporting activities and also keep fit by running after my two small children.
