Author of many publications and national and international presentations. Early research related to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and pulmonary haemodynamics, treatment of patients with COPD with oxygen, and to predictors of survival in patients with COPD.
Most recent research related to lung cancer and interventional pulmonology particularly usage of the endobronchial ultrasound systems in diagnosis and staging of lung cancer. Also researching novel techniques of screening for lung cancer and precise pathological sub-typing of lung cancer and mesothelioma.

I completed my Respiratory training in Edinburgh and have a broad range of clinical interests including General Chest Medicine, Lung Cancer and Interventional Pulmonology.
My special interests area all aspects of Lung Cancer management (from screening, through diagnostic pathways and treatments) but I have expertise in managing a wide range of Respiratory conditions including asthma, COPD and chronic cough.
I have played a lead role in the development of endobronchial and endoscopic ultrasound techniques in diagnosis and staging of Lung Cancer. I have established and now run an international teaching centre of these techniques in Edinburgh. I am considered an internationally renowned expert in endobronchial ultrasound procedures.
