Consultant ENT experts at Spire Roding Hospital, Redbridge, now provide a specialist Voice Clinic, which aims to improve the diagnosis, management and treatment of voice disorders. Our clinic is open to both insured and self-funding patients, and is also suitable for professional voice users such as singers and actors.
Our clinic aims to diagnose and treat voice disorders as quickly as possible.
When a patient is first referred to the Voice Clinic, led by Mr Abir Bhattacharyya, their initial assessment involves an examination of the larynx using a laryngoscope (or flexible nasendoscope) and stroboscope, which is connected to a video recorder and TV monitor. This examination enables the consultant to record the patient's voice and laryngeal findings onto video for evaluation and treatment. The video recording can also help to explain to the patient why they're experiencing problems with their voice.
Once our expert ENT team have diagnosed a voice disorder, treatment may consist of a range of techniques, including specific speech therapy or phonosurgical procedures.
To make an appointment at Spire Roding's voice clinic, patients will need a referral from their GP or another ENT consultant.
