Professional profile:
Mr Henry Annan qualified from Cambridge University and St Bartholomew's Hospital in 1973 and undertook postgrad training at teaching hospitals in Birmingham, London and Cambridge. Mr Annan has been a rotating senior registrar at St.Mary's Hospital, London and Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge. He was appointed consultant in 1985.

Mr Annan is active in undergraduate training in the UK, as well as a trainer and postgraduate teacher in the UK, Sudan, UAE, Nigeria and India. He is a preceptor in minimal access gyanecological surgery (MAGS) both in the UK and internationally. Mr Annan's own MAGS training took place in the UK, Belgium, Sweden and Germany.

Mr Annan is an Examiner for the University of London, the General Medical Council and the MRCOG. He is an external examiner for and assessor for the West African College of Surgeons and for the University of Science and Technology, Khartoum, Sudan. Mr Annan is also a foundation Fellow of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Personal profile:
I am married with four sons and a daughter. Apart from my family, my hobbies include bridge at club level, photography, theatre, sports and travel. I am a member of Guards Polo Club, the MCC, Royal Overseas League and the Oxford and Cambridge University Club.

I have served as a magistrate and am a patron of several charities. I am also proud to have been bestowed with the honour of Freeman of the City of London.

I have received several community awards for excellence and achievement and am a biographee in the Cambridge Blue Book and the Dictionary of International Biography.

I am an international advisor to the Medicimage Foundation.
