Background Information
Professional profile:

Mr Devesh Misra is a consultant paediatric surgeon at Spire Hartswood private hospital in Brentwood, Essex, and Spire Roding private hospital in Redbridge, Essex, offering surgery for children and young people in our clean and comfortable hospitals.

Mr Misra trained in paediatric surgery at Nottingham and the Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond Street, London.

His research thesis on 'DNA, ploidy in Wilms' tumour' remains the largest study published on the subject to date. He has also described a new technique for performing umbilical pyloromyotomy. The technique has been published in the European Journal of Paediatric-Surgery, 8:81-2, 1998, and over 90 cases have been done so far.

In l995, at the age of 33, Mr Misra was appointed to the Royal London Hospital, East London as a consultant paediatric surgeon. His special interest is paediatric urology and he is in charge of managing infants with antenatally diagnosed hydronephrosis. A new protocol was designed in 1995 to investigate these children and the results were published in the European Journal Paediatric-Surgery, 1999, 9:303-6.

The most common referrals to Mr Misra's clinic include children with UTI (urine infection), tight foreskins requiring circumcision, undescended testes, severe constipation, wetting problems and hernias.

Mr Misra began a new paediatric surgery and paediatric urology service in 1998 at the Spire Roding and Spire Hartswood private hospitals to provide for children in the East London and Essex regions.
