Mr Jenkinson is a consultant general surgeon with a special interest in laparoscopic and gastrointestinal surgery. Having replaced the position vacated by Mr Shanahan, he is the clinical lead at the Centre of Laparoscopic Surgery, Homerton Hospital, East London and Honorary Senior Lecturer at The Royal London Hospital.
Having qualified at Southampton Medical School he completed his surgical training in North London, including experience at The Hammersmith Hospital, St. Bart's, Whipps Cross Hospital, The Whittington Hospital and The Royal London Hospital.
During the final part of his training, he worked with Professor Motson in the Deprtment of Laparoscopic Surgery at Colchester General Hospital.
Mr Jenkinson's academic research culminated in a Master of Surgery thesis on the effectiveness of lapsroscopic surgery and the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease. He has also done research into laparoscopic hernia repair and surgical nutrition.
