Dr Allgrove practices at the private Spire Roding Hospital in Redbridge, Essex, where he sees patients with both general paediatric and, more specifically, growth and endocrine problems.
Dr Allgrove started practising as an NHS consultant at Newham General Hospital, East London in 1988. He first qualified in 1973, took an MRCP in 1976; these qualifications were followed by SHO jobs at Central Middlesex and Great Ormond Street Hospitals in London and Registrar posts at West Middlesex Hospital and Queen Charlotte's Hospital, London. Dr Allgrove then went on to conduct three years' research into calcium and mineral metabolism at the Middlesex Hospital. Following this period of research, he wrote his MD thesis before becoming a Senior Registrar on the West Midlands rotation in Birmingham. He received extensive training in general paediatrics and paediatric diabetes and endocrinology before taking up a consultant post in general paediatrics at Newham General Hospital, East London.
Dr Allgrove now runs the East London Paediatric and Adolescent Diabetes Service in Newham, Tower Hamlets and Hackney; he also sees patients with bone and calcium problems at St Bartholomew's and Great Ormond Street Hospitals. He has a particular interest in new treatments for osteogenesis imperfecta.
