Dr Christopher Kelsey is a consultant rheumatologist at Spire Hartswood and Spire Roding private hospitals in Brentwood and Redbridge, Essex, offering private rheumatology care in our clean and comfortable hospitals.
Dr Christopher Kelsey has been a consultant rheumatologist since 1994. He completed his training at St Andrew's University and Guy's Hospital and was Senior Registrar in the Oxford region. Dr Kelsey obtained an MSc in immunology in 1984 at Imperial College.
Dr Kelsey's clinical interests are in rheumatoid arthritis, SLE, osteoporosis, Paget's disease, paediatric rheumatology, shoulder disorders, RSI, reflex sympathetic dystrophy and hypermobility. His research interests are in combination therapy in RA and fracture prevention. Dr Christopher Kelsey is currently participating in a number of national trials.
Dr Kelsey has developed a wide range of services for patients incuding patient centred clinics in SLE and osteoporosis, joint injection clinics, telephone clinics and, more recently, combined antenatal clinics with patients with SLE and a combined kyphoplasty clinic for patients with osteoporosis.
Dr Christopher Kelsey has also been involved in the development of care pathways, national guidelines and quality and outcome measures in rheumatology and participates in external peer review.
In addition, Dr Kelsey has promoted patient involvement in their care previously working with the Trust's Patient Partnership Forum and with the National Patient Safety Agency. Dr Kelsey has supported the Expert Patient Programme, has set up a patient drop-in service with Lupus UK, and is a consultant advisor to The National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society.
Dr Christopher Kelsey is a committee member of the British Society for Rheumatology and on an Expert Working Group with the NHS Information Agency.
