    Dr Gauci runs a comprehensive pain management service at Spire Roding Hospital, with special interests in interventional pain therapy. He deals with pain problems in a multi-disciplinary setting utilising the expertise of fellow consultants and specialists practising at Spire Roding Hospital. This includes the services of a consultant psychiatrist with special interests in the psychological aspects of pain as well as those of the physiotherapy and radiology departments. The service provided by Dr Gauci includes pharmacotherapy, neural blockade, joint injections, epidurolysis, radiofrequency lesioning, pulsed radiofrequency, TENS and acupuncture.

    Dr Gauci is actively involved in teaching interventional pain techniques to colleagues around the world. He regularly participates as an instructor in modular cadaver workshops in Europe and the USA. He organises workshops at Whipps Cross University Hospital and other locations, to teach interventional pain therapy to doctors from the UK and overseas.

    Dr Gauci has also lectured extensively on pain management topcs in several European and American cities as well as in the Middle East and Asia.

    Dr Gauci has been actively involved in the field of pain relief therapy since 1979. He has served on the Council of the Intractable Pain Society of Great Britain and Ireland as a co-opted member from 1987 to 1990, during his term of office on the Council of the British Medical Association. He founded the Pain Interventionist Interest Group of the Pain Society in January 1997 acting as its Chairman until November 2000. He is the co-author of 'Handbook of Clinical Techniques in the Management of Chronic Pain' (1994) and of 'A Manual of RF techniques' (2004), now in its 2nd edition (the 1st edition is also in Korean and Spanish). He has also published a number of papers on pain management topics.

    Dr Gauci is a member of the Executive Board of the World Institute of Pain and is a former member of the Board of Examiners for the International Fellowship in Interventional Pain Practice.
