Our service provides many of the essential scans required at each key stage of your pregnancy; in addition, we also now offer parents-to-be and their families the special experience of seeing their unborn baby grow and develop in the womb via 3 and 4 dimensional images.

All pregnancy scan appointments at Spire Roding Hospital are available at short notice at a range of convenient times. They are carried out in the privacy and comfort of our on-site Imaging Department by a qualified radiologist, who uses their specialist expertise to assess if your baby is developing normally and can also provide you with the best possible images to help you see and bond with your unborn baby.
3D/4D scanning
Conventional ultrasound machines produce a 2D cross section image but advances in ultrasound technology allow a sequence of 2D images to be digitally reconstructed to produce a 3D picture of your baby. More recent advances allow the reconstruction to occur so fast that the baby can be seen moving in real time 3D (known as 4D scanning).
During your scan at Spire Roding, your radiologist will explain what is being seen and at the end of each scan you will be given a formal report of the scan findings, which will also be fully explained to you.
Afterwards, you will be able to obtain a DVD of the moving 3D and 4D images as seen on the scan machine and a CD containing still pictures (in a jpeg format).
NB: We do not carry out scans purely for gender assessment, although this can be requested as part of other pregnancy scans.
