Tests for genetic disorders such as cystic fibrosis and Huntingdon’s chorea can be conducted to assess the risk of inheriting these conditions or to diagnose them in individuals with certain symptoms.

Testing for Down’s syndrome is commonly conducted during pregnancy through nuchal testing – a combination of ultrasound and a blood test.
