Mr Manu Patel trained in both Dentistry and in Medicine at Liverpool University and qualified with both undergraduate degrees. Following training posts in General Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Maxillofacial Surgery he became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in both Dentistry and Surgery. Mr Patel completed his higher surgical training at the head and neck unit in Liverpool. Mr Patel was appointed to the post of Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon and Head and Neck Surgeon at South Manchester University hospitals in 1995. He has been Clinical Lead for his department for the last 10 years and also Clinical Lead for head and neck surgery at South Manchester.
Mr Patel has been elected as examiner to the Intercollegiate board in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery and is academic advisor to medical students. He regularly runs teaching sessions on all aspects of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for both foundation trainees and established practitioners. Mr Patel has been appointed as joint module editor for the head and neck oncology module for the National E Learning project. This is an exciting nationally funded project by the department of health.
Mr Patel has a busy clinical practice with sessions every week at Wythenshawe Hospital, Christie Hospital, Stepping Hill Hospital and Macclesfield Hospital.
Mr Patel is a keen sports enthusiast, enjoying jogging and squash but his three teenage daughters have taken most of his spare time up recently.
