Mr Leatherbarrow was appointed as Consultant Ophthalmic & Oculoplastic Surgeon at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital in July 1992. His major interests are oculoplastic, orbital, lacrimal and cataract surgery. He is the author of a major textbook, Oculoplastic Surgery, published by Martin Dunitz Ltd, 2002. The second edition of this book is due for publication later in 2009.
He graduated from Manchester Medical School in 1982. He trained in general ophthalmology at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital before undertaking subspecialty training fellowships in oculoplastic and orbital surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London and the University of Iowa, USA.
His service deals with cataract, ptosis, entropion/ectropion, eyelid tumours, eyelid and orbital reconstruction following trauma. His practice also includes treatment for thyroid eye disease, orbital tumours, socket disorders including hydroxyapatite (coral) implants, facial palsy, the watering eye and reconstruction of Mohs micrographic surgery defects.
Mr Leatherbarrow also carries specialist cosmetic eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty or eyebag removal), and brow lifts including endoscopic brow lifts. He also undertakes non-surgical cosmetic treatments including tear trough Restylane injections and anti-wrinkle injections.
