Simon Williams was appointed as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester in 2007. His research group is currently investigating the influence of heart failure and cardiac transplantation on the immune system. He has published over 70 scientific articles in leading journals.

Simon Williams graduated from Sheffield University with honours in 1995. He became interested in research during his time in Leeds, where he published extensively in heart failure. This led to the award of an MD with commendation in 2004. He trained as a Registrar in Cardiology in Liverpool & Manchester and was appointed as a Consultant at Wythenshawe hospital in 2005.
Simon Williams lives in Hale with his long suffering wife and 2 children. He enjoys skiing, running, Coronation Street and following Stockport County Football Club.
