Our Consultants
Mr Shaw Somers is a highly experienced Bariatric Surgeon, also known as the Discovery Home & Health 'Fat Doctor'. He has performed over 2000 bariatric operations, including more than 1000 gastric bypass, 600 gastric bands and 200 complex or revision procedures. Mr Somers is a partner in the renowned group of weight loss sugeons called Streamline Surgical.
Mr Simon Toh is an experienced Consultant Bariatric surgeon, who has performed over 3000 keyhole operations including over 300 weight loss operations, with particular expertise in the LapBand keyhole operation. Mr Toh is a partner in the renowned group of surgeons called Streamline Surgical.
Dietitian
Dr Denise Thomas is a dietitian with more than 25 years experience. She has been advising and supporting patients with obesity for more than 10 years, specialising in the management of weight loss maintenance for those patients who have undergone gastric band or bypass surgery.
Nursing Team
Dee Wainwright is a Special Bariatric Nurse Practitioner, who has worked alongside Mr Toh and Dr Thomas for a number of years. Dee specliases in supporting and advising patients on diet, lifestyle management and will also administer band fills for gastric band patients.
As part of the nursing team at Spire Portsmouth Hospital, Mary Robinson is a staff nurse with a special interest in bariatric surgery, who has had many years experience of nursing weight loss patients.
