Having trained in London, Sheffield, Western Australia and academically at Duke University USA, I founded the department of gynaecological oncology in Portsmouth. After establishing a subspecialty training programme, I convened a multidisciplinary team and subsequently facilitated the introduction of laparoscopic surgery and sentinel lymph node biopsy in our theatres. 

I have written over 50 original publications concerning a broad spectrum of topics in oncology, in approximately half, I am the first or senior author. In addition, I have written five book chapters and two review articles and have also contributed educational material to The Royal Collge of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and have spoken internationally.

I teach at University College London and attend outcomes committee meetings for the United Kingdom Trial of Ovarian Cancer Screening (UKCTOCS) and am also a member of the trial management committee (2002-date).
