Miss Walters graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1982 and obtained a wide training in General Surgery in NHS posts in Glasgow, Liverpool and Leeds. She finished her training with two years in Cambridge, as lecturer to Professor Sir Roy Calne. She spent two years doing research in to small bowel function at the Mayo Clinic in America.

Since 1996, Miss Walter¿s has been a NHS consultant in General Surgery at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust. She specialises in upper gastrointestinal tract surgery, particularly that of the biliary system and pancreas. She is a laparoscopic surgeon, performing laparoscopic cholecystectomies (which can be done as a day case in selected instances) as well laparoscopic hernia repairs. Most groin hernias, particularly double and recurrent hernias, are particularly suited to this technique as are many incisional hernias.

Miss Walters also performs open hernia repair and removal of skin lesions, lumps etc.

Miss Walters repairs complex incisional hernias of the abdomen by both keyhole and open surgery.

Miss Walters enjoys photography (especially landscapes), country walks and her garden.
