After completing my training in General Obstetrics and Gynaecology I spent a further three years of specialist training in Gynaecological Oncology so that I am registered dual accredited by the GMC.
My special interests are in screening for gynaecological malignancies and in the advancement of the surgical treatment of both benign and malignant gynaecological conditions.
In my role as Clinical Director for Gynaecology at the Queen Alexandra Hospital I am the lead for the single visit endometrial cancer screening service for women with postmenopausal bleeding. I am actively involved in the development of the colposcopy service and I am leading the development of a single visit menstrual disorder clinic where again women will have the opportunity to have all the investigations and the treatment in the outpatient setting.
In the treatment of Endometrial Cancer I am leading the promotion of the use of Minimal Access Surgical (MAS) Techniques for which has radically improved the post operative recovery of these patients reducing inpatient stay from 3-7 days for open surgery to 1-2 days for MAS treated patients.
Along with my busy professional life my personal life is equally busy with my partner and children dominating things at home. I enjoy active hobbies which include running, mountain biking, motorcycling, sailing and flying light aircraft. Other interests include vintage cars partcularly racing cars and aircraft.
