Professional profile:
Dr Philip Strike is a general cardiologist with special interests in coronary intervention and coronary risk factor management.

He qualified from St George's Hospital in 1991 and trained in general medicine in Worthing and then in general cardiology in Southampton and London. He trained in angioplasty at St Bartholomew's Hospital, the Heart Hospital and the London Chest Hospital. He has been appointed in Portsmouth to help develop the coronary intervention service with an emphasis on the swift and effective management of acute coronary syndraomes and to attempt to improve the revascularisation rates in the area.

He has a research interest in cardiovascular epidemiology and received a PhD from University College London earlier this year. This interest has been continued into clinical practice and in addition to management of established coronary artery disease Dr Strike has a special interest in primary risk factor management. If there is sufficient interest he hopes to establish a specialised vascular risk clinic.
