A new painless Botox and dermal filler needle appliance that minimises pain has been launched today (July 22nd).
The tool has been developed by BellaNovus as an alternative to ice and numbing creams, which can sometimes provoke allergic reactions.
Labelled the Ouchless Needle, the device attaches to the needles and places a small amount of concentrated refrigerant onto the skin just prior to the injection, thereby numbing the skin and minimising irritation.
Ouchless has been developed by aesthetic plastic surgeon Dr Marc J Salzman who "hated to see how painful it was for patients" receiving non-surgical wrinkles treatment.
He added: "The early response we've received from both patients and doctors for [the] Ouchless Needle has been remarkable."
Despite the economic downturn, demand for cosmetic treatments has remained strong on both sides of the Atlantic. America's Society of Plastic Surgeons believes five million Botox procedures were performed in 2010, a rise of 12 per cent compared with 2009.
According to Britain's Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, over 38,200 cosmetic operations were carried out in 2010. In terms of facelifts, there was a rise of 12 per cent for both genders which eclipsed breast reduction as women's third most popular procedure.
