General Ophthalmology Practice
I have been a Consultant Ophthalmologist at University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust since February 1997, CCST in 1996 and on the Specialist Register since November 1997. A personal drive to serve all my patients makes me keep up to date with general Ophthalmology, which included Ophthalmology. I regularly take on the more complex cataract procedures and patients who are very nervous about having the procedure.
Sub-specialist Glaucoma Practice
I am the Lead Clinician for the Glaucoma Service at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust and provide Glaucoma care for patients in Coventry and Warwickshire, winner of the national Allergan Glaucoma Achievement Award in 2004 for providing high quality glaucoma care. I am familiar with what is needed for the diagnosis and management of common and complex glaucoma cases. I have kept myself informed of all recent advances in the medical and surgical management of this condition. My training included a glaucoma fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London where I experienced advanced surgical techniques. I regularly use lasers in the management of glaucoma and antimetabolites in augmented trabeculectomy.
I graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1985 and moved to Birmingham to complete my training at the Old Eye Hospital in 1991. Since then, I have lived in Solihull with my husband and two children, age 13 and 11.
Aside from my family duties, which now regularly include attending concerts or standing on the rugby touch line, I have a particular interest in medical education and I am currently head of the West Midlands Deanery Postgraduate School of Ophthalmology
