Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, Solihull Hospital 1990-96Consultant Gynaecologist, Birmingham Women’s Hospital 1996-2011
Susan Blunt had an excellent and broad training in all aspects of gynaecology in the West Midlands at the Birmingham Women’s Hospital with Professors Huge McLaren and Newton. She spent two years in a research post with Professor Wilfred Butt in the area of gynaecological endocrinology (female hormones!) resulting in the award of a doctorate in 1988.
Susan was appointed as a Senior Registrar at Solihull Hospital where she established an infertility clinic and was appointed a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Solihull Hospital in 1990. In 1996 she transferred to The Birmingham Women’s Hospital. Once there, she established the regional adolescent gynaecology service in addition to her wide and well established general gynaecological work load.
She has wide experience in all general gynaecological conditions, hormonal problems and gynaecological surgery.
Since May 2011, her practice is entirely private. She works alongside a great team of associated clinicians in the fields of radiology, urology, general surgery and anaesthetics.
Susan Blunt has three daughters, all now in their twenties. She loves all aspects of family life and is never happier than when her home is full of laughter and family. She has always had dogs and now is reduced to one slightly ancient but wonderful mongrel called Bullet. She enjoys sailing, tennis, skiing, walking, music, cooking and the company of good friends.
