I graduated from University of Wales, College of Medicine in 1993. I was admitted as fellow of Royal College of Surgeon of Edinburgh in 1998 and fellow of Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 1999. I underwent Higher Surgical Training in Ophthalmology at Trent region based at Queen's Medical Centre University Hospital NHS Trust, Nottingham.

I obtained my Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CSST) in April 2003 and entered the GMC specialist register in June 2003.

After completing the Higher Surgical Training, I underwent prestigious glaucoma fellowship training at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. Thereafter, I returned to Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham to undertake a second glaucoma fellowship training and conducted clinical research projects in glaucoma management before taking up the consultant post at Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre, City Hospital, Birmingham.

With extensive experience in small incision cataract surgery, I perform or supervise about 500 cataract operations per year. I am committed to the continuous auditing of the results of cataract surgeries to maintain a high standard and patient satisfaction.

I am a specialist in glaucoma management. I specialised in performing glaucoma drainage surgery with the use of anti-scarring medicine and glaucoma drainage tube implant surgery for patient with refractory glaucoma or patients who have had previous multiple glaucoma surgeries. I also have specialist interests in childhood glaucoma and inflammatory glaucoma.

I am continuing my research projects on optic disc imaging in management of glaucoma. I am interested in glaucoma screening projects especially for relatives of glaucoma patients. I am committed to conducting research in methods of early detection of glaucoma and improvement in surgical techniques in glaucoma drainage surgery.

I am bilingual in English and Chinese.

I am keen on fencing and I also enjoy reading, travelling and spending time with family and friends.
