Mr Deshpande undertook his undergraduate medical and post graduate MS in Orthopaedic Surgery in Nagpur, India. Arriving in the UK, he undertook Basic Surgical Training and then completed Higher Surgical Training in the Midlands and Wales. During this period as an Orthopaedic Registrar he held posts in Coventry, Royal Orthopaedic Hospital Birmingham, Sellyoak, Wrexham, Cardiff and RJAH Oswestry. Having gained high quality training in all aspects of Orthopaedic and Trauma surgery he developed a special interest in Lower Limb Arthroplasty and Knee surgery. He then spent 6 months on a Fellowship programme in the prestigious St Joseph’s Hospital, London, Ontario, Canada. During this fellowship he gained expertise in Computer Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery (Navigation) under the guidance of Dr David Chess, one of the pioneers of Navigation surgery in Canada. After being appointed in St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust as a full time Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon he established the first Computer Navigation unit in Merseyside in 2006.
Mr Deshpande was appointed as a full-time Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to New Cross Hospital in January 2009.

Computer Navigation, Primary hip and knee replacement and partial (Oxford unicompartmental and patellofemoral) knee replacement surgery.
Other areas of expertise include sports injury, soft tissue ligament knee surgery, knee arthroscopy, post traumatic conditions of the lower limb and general orthopaedics.
