Mr Rana Das-Gupta is a fully UK accredited NHS Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon at The Warwickshire NHS Trust. He holds Consultant posts at University Hospital Coventry, Warwick Hospital, and Stratford-Upon Avon NHS Hospitals as Consultant Plastic Surgeon. He is also an Honorary Associate Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of Warwick, and is engaged in founding the new Plastic Surgery MSc degree course.
He sits as a member of the GMC (general medical council) appeal panel to review applicants for the UK specialist register. Mr Das-Gupta is Secretary of the West Midlands Plastic Surgery Training committee, and sits on the National Selection committee for plastic surgical trainees, and he has been invited to apply for membership of BAPRAS. He is a member of UKAAPs.
He has special expertise in breast augmentation, liposuction, abdominoplasty, blepharoplasty, rhinoplasty and facelifts. He receives many referrals from senior colleagues to deal with complex cosmetic nose problems. Mr das-Gupta has developed his own pioneering techniques for correcting male breasts. He has worked with Allergan to use the Shaped implant kit to give women a view of what their breast augmentation will look like after surgery, and he runs the Midlands rhinoplasty and facelift course to train other plastic surgeons on these procedures.
Rana was born and educated in London and trained as a doctor at The Royal London Hospital and runs a private consultant practise in cosmetic surgery in Harley Street, London since 1998. Prior to taking up an NHS consultant position in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Warwickshire, he has held training positions at many of the famous plastic surgery units in London, including Mount Vernon Hospital, UCH, Queen Marys Roehampton, Wexham Park, and Stoke Mandeville Hospitals and has held senior positions in plastic surgery in Denmark, Chester and Norway. He was indeed a substantive NHS (equivalent) Consultant in Norway for several years prior to returning to the UK. Mr Das-Gupta is committed to attending international meetings to keep abreast of best practise within the speciality.
He has appeared frequently in the media as a plastic surgery expert, including: GMTV, London Tonight, The Gloria Hunniford Show, The Mail on Sunday, News of the World, The Sun, The Daily Mirror, The Daily Express, Woman Magazine and many other media articles related to cosmetic surgery.
He offers the full spectrum of cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery and has recently published papers on the latest techniques in breast reconstruction, in the British Journal of Plastic Surgery.
