Mr Paul Super, has been working as a senior Upper GI surgeon in Birmingham,for the last 10 years,at Birmingham Heartlands & Solihull NHS Trust and as Honorary Consultant, Queen Elizabeth University Hospitals Trust
MR Super's main interest is in oesophago-gastric surgery and in particular laparoscopic surgery. Each year he performs over 100 laparoscopic cholecystectomies, 100 laparoscopic anti-reflux procedures and 400 laparoscopic gastric band insertions for obesity.
Mr Super is a Fellow Royal College of Surgeons, and a member of the British Obesity Surgical Society, Association Upper Gastro Intestinal Surgeons and a member of the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland.
Mr Paul Super has set up and leads the well known Heartlands Hospital NHS surgical obesity service which serves approximately 10% of the population of England. He carries out valued clinical research into obesity surgery. This work is presented regularly at national and international meetings and is published regularly in peer review journals.
