Mr Bruce Richard is a consultant plastic surgeon at Birmingham Children's Hospital and University Hospital Birmingham NHS Trust. He has a general plastic surgery practice with sub-speciality interests in facelifts, eyelid reduction, rhinoplasty, ear correction, benign moles and cysts.

His research interests include cleft lips and palate and facial nerve
reconstruction. Bruce holds memberships with the Royal College of Surgeons, British Association of Plastic Surgeons and the Craniofacial Society of Great Britain. Bruce qualified in 1980 from St Mary's Hospital Medical School, London and he then completed six years of general and plastic surgery training before going to Nepal for nine years.

Whilst in Nepal, Bruce set up a department of plastic and reconstructive surgery for the Government of Nepal in Pokhara. He then returned to the UK and completed a further three years of Higher Plastic Surgery training, passed the Intercollegiate College Exam in Plastic Surgery and gained a Master of Surgery degree for his research thesis
on the facial nerve.

During his training and from subsequent experience, Bruce has enjoyed learning and practising a variety of reconstructive and aesthetic techniques to manage skin cancer, cysts and moles, hand injuries
and deformities such as dupuytrens, lower limb trauma and tendon transfers.

His main NHS commitment is adult and children's facial reconstruction, especially cleft lip and palate, ear deformities and nose reconstruction. He has experience in face lifts, upper and lower eyelid reduction, prominent ear correction, liposuction and abdominoplasty, breast
augmentation and reduction.

Mr Richard can also prepare medio-legal reports.

Bruce is married and spends much of his free time with his family. He enjoys multicultural situations and continues to have many links with colleagues and friends in developing countries.
