Mr Sharma graduated from St. Thomas’ Hospital, London and trained in medicine and ophthalmology. He completed his ophthalmic training both in London (St. Thomas’ and Moorfields Eye Hospital) and Birmingham and specialises in vitreo-retinal surgery and ocular trauma. He sees patients with diseases of the macula and provides Lucentis treatment for macular degeneration. He performs surgery on the lens, vitreous floaters/haemorrhage and retinal detachments.
He has research interests on vital dye staining, malignant glaucoma, novel tamponade agents and new generation lens implants
He is co-organiser of the Birmingham Ocular Trauma Course run annually at the Birmingham Eye Centre
