After qualification in 1986, Mr Ewies did an intensive training programme in gynaecological surgery in the Maternity University Hospitals of Alexandria, and then had further advanced training in the West Midlands, East Midlands and Northern Deaneries in the UK. He got his first consultant post in Ipswich in 2005 before moving to Birmingham City Hospital in 2010 for family reasons.
Mr Ewies has developed a broad experience, knowledge and skills in gynaecology over 22 years. He can offer a wide range of gynaecological services; including the management of polycystic ovaries, prolapsed womb, pelvic infection, infertility, vulvar disease, and cancer screening and early management.
Mr Ewies is an expert in the management of menopausal symptoms, menstrual disorders, fibroids, endometriosis and pelvic pain. He has a special interest in laparoscopic (key-hole) surgery e.g. hysterectomy and removal of ovarian cysts, hysteroscopic surgery e.g. endometrial ablation and removal of polyps/fibroids from the cavity of the womb, and colposcopy. He is accredited in endoscopic surgery by the RCOG and in colposcopy by the BSCCP.
