Dr O'Hickey trained in Respiratory Medicine and Clinical Allergy at Guy's Hospital London and completed his MD thesis in Asthma and Exercise. Dr O'Hickey's Senior Registrar years were in respiratory medicine at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital. In 1993 he was appointed as consultant in respiratory medicine to Solihull Hospital and then in 1997, was offered a post in Respiratory Medicine and Allergy in Worcester Royal Hospital.

Dr O'Hickey's interests are Clinical Allergy, particularly desensitization and immunotherapy, pulmonary rehabilitation for COPD/Emphysema and interstitial lung disease, particularly when associated with connective tissue disease. He is especially interested in clinical allergy testing for allergic asthma and rhino-sinusitis.

My main non-medical interests are sport, especially Rugby (The Worcester Warriors) gardening and ferrying my children around Worcester. I used to mountain-bike and played competitive squash in Lancaster and London but the wear and tear of the years has taken its toll! My cricketing exploits are legendary, mainly as I’m seen but once a year wearing whites or are they now greys!
