Bethan was educated in North Wales and completed her nurse training in 1987, working in the field of General Surgery before undertaking further nurse training in 1992.  In 1993, Bethan was awarded the ‘Outstanding Achievement’ in nursing award at the Nursing Standard’s ‘Nurse of the Year Award’ for establishing a Breast Care Nursing Service for patients within the NHS.

Bethan joined Spire Hospitals in 2000 as a clinical lead for breast care services at Spire Parkway Hospital and Spire Little Aston Hospital before graduating in 2001 from the Royal Marsden Hospital, London, having studied cancer nursing.

Over ten-years ago, Bethan set-up the ‘Breast Friends’ breast cancer support group in Sutton Coldfield, which is open to all women with breast cancer. The group is lead by a multi disciplinary team who have the skills and experience to give clear, comprehensive and friendly advice to women and their families, through these very challenging and emotional times.  Breast Friends continues to grow as members stay involved with the group to offer new members their personal knowledge and support and to help fund-raising. The Solihull group opened in 2000.

During Bethan's free time she enjoys walking her chocolate Labrador (Gordon). She also spends time fundraising for Breast Friends organising a bi-annual Ball to raise valuable funds. Gordon and Bethan also join Breast Friends at the Solihull ‘Fun Run’ with other members of the Breast Team.

Bethan's sister and her family have emigrated to New Zealand and she enjoy's visiting them as often as possible.
