Spire Parkway Hospital is pleased to announce the completion of a dedicated Critical Care Unit (CCU) at its Solihull site, combining both intensive care and high dependency beds. Through the development of the CCU, Spire Parkway Hospital becomes one of very few private hospitals in the West Midlands and Warwickshire with intensive care facilities, allowing for more advanced complex surgery to be undertaken.
Some types of surgery may require patients to be admitted to the CCU, if they require a higher level of nursing care and observation. Sometimes this may be precautionary; or it may be due to the fact that they require intensive treatment in order to recover safely. Most patients will stay in the CCU for one or two nights, depending on their condition and the procedure they have undergone.
Spire Parkway Hospital has a purpose built 4 bedded CCU fully equipped with highly sophisticated monitoring devices. The multidisciplinary team, which includes medical and nursing staff, are responsible for one or two patients at a time.
Understanding what Intensive Care (Level 3) means
Intensive Care Level 3 is defined by varying amounts of medical expertise, organ monitoring and support. Ward based care is designated Level 1, with Level 2 being referred to as High Dependency and Level 3 referred to as Intensive Care, which is the highest level. Spire Parkway Hospital has dedicated provision for all these levels, offering patients peace of mind that they can recover safely.
