Professional profile

Dr. Crowe attended Trinity College Medical School in Dublin, graduating in 1988. After medical jobs in Dublin, Manchester and the Middle East he undertook 5 years of specialist training in Radiology in Birmingham followed by further sub speciality training in Interventional Radiology. He has been a Consultant Interventional Radiologist at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital since May 1998 and is the Clinical Lead for Interventional Radiology services across the Heart of England NHS Trust.

Dr. Crowe has set up numerous new interventional radiology procedures within the NHS and private sectors locally and has one of the largest uterine fibroid embolisation practices in Europe. He was one of the first to offer the treatment in the UK and has over 10 years of experience in the technique. Private fibroid embolisation consultations are offered at both the Spire Parkway and Spire Little Aston Hospitals through the Birmingham Fibroid Clinic.

Dr. Crowe actively participates in teaching and research and is the lead Interventional Radiology Trainer for the West Midlands Radiology Training Scheme. He is an invited speaker at numerous conferences particularly in the fields of embolisation and minimally invasive fibroid treatments. He is chair of the Communications Committee of the BSIR (British Society of Interventional Radiology) and also sits on numerous local committees including the Heart of England NHS Trust’s Novel Therapeutics Committee
