At Spire Parkway Hospital we are committed to providing our patients with the best, most effective cancer treatment possible and high levels of individual care. We are an accredited Bowel and Breast Cancer Unit and our expert team includes surgeons, oncologists, pathologists, radiologists and specialist nurses. Together, they are able to offer treatment for cancer that includes diagnosis, surgery and chemotherapy in a clean, comfortable and private hospital environment.
Looking after you from the moment of diagnosis through to treatment and aftercare
Spire Parkway's oncology service is led by a dedicated and highly experienced team of consultant clinical oncologists who give advice and manage many different types of cancers. They are all experts in the management of the side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Some of the cancers that we routinely diagnose and treat:
- Breast cancer
- Colo-rectal cancer (including bowel cancer)
- Gynaecological cancers (including ovarian and cervical cancer)
- Haematological conditions including lymphoma, myeloma and chronic lymphocytic leukaemia
- Lung cancer and mesothelioma
- Upper gastro-intestinal conditions (including stomach cancer and cancer of the oesophagus and pancreas)
- Urological cancers (including bladder, prostate and testicular cancer). For prostate cancer patients, we also offer the laparoscopic radical prostatectomy procedure.
A dedicated team of Oncology Nurse Specialists compliment our oncologists. They are trained in all aspects of chemotherapy, including administration, management of side effects, counselling and all issues relating to cancer.
Our oncology service provides:
- A 24-hour on call service
- All types of chemotherapy, including complex regimes
- New chemotherapy regimes, or combinations with biological therapies such as Herceptin, Avastin, Erbitux and Tarceva, which may not be available on the NHS
- An established service and management of central venous catheters including Portacaths, Hickman and PICC lines
- Referral to appropriate specialist agencies eg. lymphoedema specialists, breast care nurse specialists
- Information on holistic and complimentary therapies and local support groups
- Links to an NHS Hospital in the West Midlands where there are state of the art facilities for radiotherapy
Diagnostic Investigations
We are committed to providing each patient with the most appropriate treatment as quickly as possible. Fast diagnosis is crucial for the successful treatment of cancer. Our radiographers and consultant radiologists carry out and interpret examinations at the hospital.
Spire Parkway Hospital offers MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) and CT (computerised tomography) scanning, Ultrasound, X-ray and Mammograms six days a week at convenient appointment times.
