My main interests are in the diagnosis and treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms. This includes advanced urodynamics and investigative techniques in male and female incontinence. In addition I offer a regional service in urethral reconstructive surgery with anastomotic urethroplasty, augmentation urethroplasty and salvage surgery in adults for failed hypospadias repairs and other scarring conditions of the glans penis. I performed the first transvaginal tape (TVT) at the Spire Hospital in 1999 and the first use of Botox in urinary incontinence at the Spire Hospital in 2004.
Since 2005 I have been the National Clinical Champion for urodynamics advising the Chief Scientific Officer of the NHS on physiological measurements of male and female urinary tract function. In 2005 I hosted the UK Continence Society annual meeting in Norwich with 425 delegates and in 2007 was elected as Honorary Treasurer of the Society. This year I take over responsibility for management of the Scientific meeting. In 2008 I was elected to the Standardisation Committee of the International Multidisciplinary Society concerned with male and female continence and in 2009 I was invited to join the School of Urodynamics for the same organisation.
Between 2000 and 2005 I served on the Executive Committee of the Section of female functional urology at the British Association of Urological surgeons.
I live in the city of Norwich and when not working enjoy all the facilities our fine city has to offer. A particular hobby I have never outgrown since my first meccano set is tinkering with mechanical devices and model engineering.
