I was appointed as a consultant in Norwich in 1994, having trained mainly in London, Norwich and Australia and enjoy a busy clinical practice of general orthopaedics and trauma surgery.The greater part of this practice consists of major joint replacement surgery and I carry out over 250 hip and knee replacements and revision procedures each year (over 3,000 in the last 14 years). I am particularly stimulated by complex revision problems at both the hip and the knee, as well as more straightforward foot and hand surgery and knee arthroscopy.

I have a particular interest in the hip problems of young adults and hip replacements in this group, hence my interest in metal-on-metal hip replacements. 

I am a member of the National Executive Committee of the British Hip Society and their Treasurer.

I am an examiner for the Intercollegiate Speciality Board Examination in Orthopaedics run by the combined Royal Colleges of Surgeons.

I review research work for the Editorial Board of The British Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery.

I am a panel member of the Invited Review Mechanism at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

I am married to Jo, who is currently a non-practicing General Practitioner and a practicing mother to James (13), George (11) and Archie (7). We enjoy the outdoors, especially sailing, cycling and ball games. I am fascinated by old buildings and hold a current private pilot's licence.
