Mr Burton trained and worked at Moorfields Eye Hospital for over five years where he learnt the technique of small incision cataract surgery which allows the vast majority of patients to drive without glasses.
Mr Burton has extensive experience using Lucentis and Avastin intravitreal injections.
Mr Burton sits on advisory committees advising drug companies about new treatments for retinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathology, ARMD and retinal vein occlusions.
Mr Burton is also involved in research projects looking at new treatments for retinal disease.
Mr Burton is an enthusiastic amateur gardener specialising in plants which can survive direct hits by footballs, rugby balls and cricket balls belonging to his four children. His wonderful wife has allowed Mr Burton and his children to indulge their shared interest in military history by building a world war one dugout in the vegetable patch which he is hopeful she will see the need for this to be extended in the near future.
