Background Information 
Professional profile:
Since my appointment to the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital 15 years ago I have endeavoured to develop local cardiac services for Norfolk. I was personally instrumental in developing interventional cardiology services in Norfolk and in particular, coronary angioplasty which is now undertaken locally. This has been a great asset for patients who no longer need to travel to Cambridge.

My philiosophy is to ensure that patients fully understand the nature of their condition and the pros and cons of the various treatment options, so that we can mutually arrive at a suitable treatment plan.

I trained in interventional cardiology as Senior Registrar at St Bartholomew's Hospital. Following my appointment in Norfolk 15 years ago I was the only Interventional Cardiologist based at the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital and for the first 12 years undertook this aspect of my practice at Papworth Hospital. In the last 3 years the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital has started a PCI programme and I am the Lead Interventionalist in the service.

I am experienced in all aspects of adult cardiology but my main interest is in the diagnosis and treatment of coronary heart disease, heart failure and valvular heart disease. However, in view of my extensive training at St Bartholomew's Hospital I also have considerable experience in the management of heart rhythm disorders.
Personal profile:
My major passions outside medicine are my family and sport. I was fortunate to play several team sports at a representable level as a younger man.

I recently took up endurance rowing (it started as a fund raising exercise) and last year aged 55 was part of a crew that broke the world record for the fastest trans Atlantic crossing in a rowing boat.

My main sporting interests now lie in watching my beloved boys get as much enjoyment through sports as I have.

I also like fast cars.
