Professional profile:
I have been a consultant at the Norfolk & Norwich and James Paget since 1995, but have had a varied career, having trained in Cambridge, Belfast, Edinburgh and London. I was a consultant oncologist in Belfast from 1981 until 1984. For 10 years from 1984 to 1994 I was oncology professor in Hong Kong, then in charge of oncology in Papua New Guinea and then a WHO oncology consultant in Zimbabwe.My special interests are lung cancer, head and neck cancer and thyroid cancer. I am responsible for the radiation oncology, medical oncology and palliative care of patients with these malignancies. I also have an interest in sarcomas and the use of radiation in benign disorders such as thyrotoxicosis and in palliative care generally.
Personal profile:
I have a family and apart from this, church activities, playing the piano, rowing or playing bad tennis keep me fully occupied.
