How much does Gastric sleeve surgery (sleeve gastrectomy) cost at The Montefiore Hospital

It’s a common operation to have done privately, and our inclusive prices and access to payment plans make it easy and more affordable, even if you don’t have medical insurance.

The price shown is the ‘from price’ (ie the minimum cost of the procedure). Please note that for some procedures the actual price you are quoted may vary significantly and can increase depending on your choice of Consultant (who is an independent practitioner and not an employee of Spire). The fees charged by Consultants and Anaesthetists are set independently and are outside the control of Spire. The price may also vary depending on the type of anaesthetic, implant or drug used, and your medical history.

The Montefiore Hospital can provide you with a single, fixed price for your procedure so there are no surprises. Please read Spire Healthcare's terms and conditions for full details of what’s included and excluded in your fixed price when paying for yourself. Finance options are available through our partner Omni Capital Retail Finance Ltd, 10 Norwich Street, London, EC4A 1BD.

Preparing for gastric sleeve surgery at The Montefiore

Getting here

The Montefiore Hospital is approximately a 15 minute walk or a five minute taxi journey from both Hove and Brighton railway stations.

Your consultations

When you come to your first appointment, you’ll have a chance to meet our bariatric surgeon in one of our eight private consultation rooms, all of which have easy access. During your consultation, your consultant will talk to you about your medical history. They’ll be able to explain:

  • The different options for surgery
  • What’s involved, including the anaesthetic
  • Any risks or complications

There’ll be plenty of time to discuss any questions or concerns. You might find it helpful to think of some questions beforehand and make notes during your consultation.

Before going ahead with gastric sleeve surgery, you’ll need to have a pre-operative assessment which may include tests and scans.

Gastric sleeve surgery: your procedure

When you come in for your operation, our staff will show you to your private en-suite room. You’ll have all the comforts and conveniences you’d expect to find in your own home while you stay with us, including:

  • TV
  • En-suite
  • Window
  • Armchair

Once you’re settled, here’s what will happen:

  • You’ll meet your consultant and surgical team who’ll prepare you for surgery
  • Your anaesthetist will give you your general anaesthetic, so you’ll be asleep for your operation
  • Once it’s taken effect, your surgeon will make the first incisions and carry out the gastric sleeve surgery to remove part of your stomach

If you’ve come with a friend or family member, they’re welcome to wait in your room or our lounge area while you have your operation.

Your operation will take one to two hours and you’ll be with us for three to five days.

Your aftercare and recovery

While you’re in the hospital, your nursing team will give you pain relief as and when you need it so that you’re comfortable as you recover.

After you leave hospital, we’ll arrange to see you for three to five follow-up appointments for up to two years after your operation so we can keep track of your progress and ensure you’re recovering and losing weight as intended.
