    Mr Rogers moved to Yorkshire in 1979 and he has been there ever since. He studied at Medical school at the University of Leeds and graduated in July as MBChB (Hons). He was awarded the William Hey Medal as the most distinguished graduate of the year. He did his house officer posts at Leeds General Infirmary and St James' University Hospital. He then undertook research with Professor David Johnston in the University Department of Surgery.Mr Roger's basic surgical training was undertaken on the old "east" Leeds rotation based around St James' Hospital but including Killingbeck and Seacroft Hospitals. As a higher surgical trainee he spent a total of ten years as a registrar and then senior registrar working in Hull and in Leeds at the General Infirmary and St James's Hospital. He spent election year, 1997, as a surgical fellow (equivalent of senior registrar) working in the royal Adelaide Hospital, Adelaide, South Australia. He was appointed to his current NHS University post in January 1999 and took up his appointment on 3rd May 1999.
    Personal profile:
    Mr Rogers lives in Notton, between Wakefield and Barnsley, with his wife Karen who works at the University of Hallam in Sheffield where she is a senior lecturer in the faculty of Health and Well Being. His interests outside work revolve around physical exercise. He trains regularly and runs up to four times weekly. He cycles to work twice or thrice weekly. He is a non-affiliated member of the fell races and a selection of road races up to half marathon. He loves the outdoors. Mr Rogers is a keen walker and moderately proficient climber. He also loves good coffee and good fine wine
