How does ClariVein® work?
The consultant will use ultrasound to find the damaged vein, which is the cause of visible, bulging, varicose veins. They will then insert a port in to the vein and feed the ClariVein® probe to the top of the vein through the port. The rotating tip of the probe damages the inside of the vein, whilst spraying a sclerosant drug to cause the vein to close.
After the procedure a compression stocking will be applied to the leg and should be worn for one week. Patients can usually go home 30 minutes after the procedure and can normally resume normal activities the same day, but it is advisable to wait 24 hours before driving.
