Mr Lees undertook his medical training at Cambridge and Oxford universities. His specialist surgical training was gained in a number of hospitals in and around Manchester. In addition to treating a wide range of general and colorectal conditions, he teaches and examines medical students and trains junior surgeons at Hope Hospital, Salford.

Mr Lees currently holds the position of clinical lead for colorectal cancer at Hope Hospital, Salford.
