Mr Nardo is a Consultant in Gynaecology, Reproductive Medicine and Surgery. He is Director of North West Fertility, one of the largest and most successful private IVF clinics in the UK, and GyneHealth, a comprehensive multidisciplinary independent sector service for women's health. He sees private gynaecology, fertility and IVF patients at his clinics in Manchester, Cheshire and London, and is supported by a great team of consultant colleagues, specialist nurses, counsellors, acupuncturists, reflexologists, nutritionists, physiotherapists and administrative staff.
Mr Nardo trained in Italy, London and Manchester until he was appointed as NHS consultant in gynaecology and reproductive medicine at St Mary's Hospital, Manchester where he worked until August 2011. He is a Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) member and accredited subspecialist in reproductive medicine and surgery. He has vast experience in advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for the treatment of endometriosis, adhesions, fibroids, ovarian cysts, tubal surgery and other benign gynaecological conditions. He performs complex laparoscopic procedures such as myomectomy, hysterectomy and reversal of sterilisation as day case procedures in private hospitals in Manchester and London.
Mr Nardo has clinical and academic interests in pelvic pain, menstrual disorders, infertility, assisted conception, gynaecological endocrinology and hysteroscopic management of intrauterine abnormalities (including fibroids, septa and severe adhesions like in Asherman's Syndrome). He has expertise in gynaecological ultrasound scan and management of early pregnancy problems, including recurrent miscarriage, and runs dedicated clinics.
Mr Nardo is a member of the RCOG, and an associate member of many international learned societies, including the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and the British Fertility Society (BFS). He is past chair of the training committee of the BFS and serves on the education committee of the International Federation of Fertility Societies (IFFS). Mr Nardo is former chairman of the Mediterranean Society for Reproductive Medicine (MSRM) and is actively involved in promoting gynaecology education and training opportunities in the UK and abroad. He is a preceptor for the BSF special skill modules in Pelvic Ultrasound, Embryo Transfer, Management of the Infertile Couple and Assisted Conception. Mr Nardo is regular organiser of many national and international courses and meetings in the field of gynaecology, infertility, assisted conception, gynaecological endocrinology, ultrasound and advanced laparoscopic surgery. In particular, he works very closely with the ESHRE Special Interest Group in Reproductive Surgery and the RCOG.
Mr Nardo has a strong research programme both in the UK and abroad focusing on polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, ovarian reserve, ovarian stimulation, repeated IVF failures and mechanisms of embryo implantation. He is co-investigator of some international multicentre research trials. He has published widely on many aspects of gynaecology, reproductive medicine and surgery, and has written several textbook chapters and edited journals' supplements. Mr Nardo has been an invited speaker to over 80 conferences worldwide and has held several visiting positions in Europe and the Intercontinental region. He is an ad-hoc reviewer for many international scientific journals and publishers. Currently he is a member of the editorial board of the peer-reviewed journal Reproductive BioMedicine Online and is Section Editor for Endometriosis and Reproductive Surgery. Mr Nardo is a recognised opinion leader by patients' organisation, scientific societies, academic institutions, non-profit organisations, media and pharmaceutical companies.
