Lester is a Consultant Surgeon with the University Hospital of South Manchester and the Christie Hospital in Manchester. He is a Breast Cancer Specialist and has particular expertise in breast reconstruction, and in oncoplastic surgery.

He runs a One Stop Breast Clinic at the Spire Manchester Hospital twice a week and will see patients with a wide range of breast problems.

If you have a concern about a breast symptom or wish advice about breast health, breast screening, your family history of cancer or on ways to reduce your risk then please arrange an appointment. Lester also runs a clinic at the Christie Hospital for rare soft tissue tumours and sarcoma.

Lester is chairman of the Genesis Appeal, which has planned and built Europe's first Breast Cancer Prevention Centre. The Genesis Prevention Centre is in Manchester at Wythenshawe Hospital and opened in 2007. Lester's research interests are in breast cancer prevention strategies.

Mr Barr came to Manchester in 1993, having trained in surgery at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and St George's Hospital.

He is married to Nicky and they have three daughters.
